I thanked her and made my way back to the garage. I lost track of time until I heard the phone ring and Pearl had a discussion with the Bob Pearce the owner of the garage. I hoped that everything would be ok and that I really should going. I wanted to be away from this hick town and on my way home where Jennifer would be worried about me.
I sipped my coffee and thought that they were all hillbillies as the time ticked by. 'Looks expensive,' one of the customers laughed. I could see what was happening at the garage as I sat down and she brought me my drink. There were a number of people watching as I entered and approached the counter where I asked for Pearl. 'Thanks,' I replied as I made my way to the cafe. 'Tell her Bob sent you and she will take care of you.' 'Why don't you go over to the diner and ask for Pearl.' 'Hello I'm Bob Pearce but you can call me Bob.' I could see steam from under the bonnet and hopefully it wouldn't do any further damage as it ground to a halt when the owner of the garage came over. It had to be something simple I thought to myself as my car struggled to make it into the next town.
